COVID 19 Plan

Over the last few months our world has changed rapidly, leaving us with uncertainty and a degree of fear. Here at The Toowoomba Clinic, we are ensuring that we are taking appropriate measures and are committed to staying safe & keeping healthy during the novel coronavirus/COVID-19 pandemic. As a further measure for your assurance, prior to being granted admission to the Toowoomba Clinic all patients must be screened/tested for novel coronavirus/COVID-19.

  • We have increased the frequency of cleaning rounds in high use public areas
  • We adhere to the Centres of Disease Control & Prevention and Department of Health Guidelines to maintain the best practices and protocols for keeping you safe
  • Let us reassure you that your safety and the safety of our staff is our highest priority as we provide treatment and care for you

Patients

Prior to being granted admission to The Toowoomba Clinic all patients must be screened/tested for novel coronavirus/COVID-19. Admission may be delayed until a negative result has been received.

Please contact The Toowoomba Clinic prior to admission if you are feeling unwell or have any questions or concerns about your treatment or our prevention strategies against COVID-19. Your health is important to us. Please call us on (07) 4573 4400 or e-mail us at [email protected].

If you are feeling physically unwell,

  • Stay at home.
  • If you have a fever, cough, sore throat or difficulty breathing, seek medical attention by contacting your General Practitioner (GP). Call your GP in advance.
  • If you are experiencing any of the above symptoms, please contact the National Coronavirus/COVID 19 Helpline on 1800 020 080 or for Translating and Interpreter service please contact 131 450 or visit your nearest Coronavirus/COVID-19 testing clinic.
  • Alternatively, you can download the COVID Safe App, this app speeds up contacting people exposed to novel coronavirus/COVID-19. This helps us to support and protect you, your friends and family.

  • The Coronavirus Australia app can also be downloaded to allow you to stay up-to date with official information and advice about the novel coronavirus/COVID-19 situation. You can check your symptoms & get notified when urgent information & updates are published.

  • Your temperature will be taken upon admission to the clinic to assist with screening.

Visitors

We understand these restrictions are particularly difficult when you have a loved one in hospital.

Before visiting friends and relatives we encourage YOU to STOP & THINK:

  • DO NOT VISIT our patients for 14 days:
  • If you are subject to quarantine.
  • If YOU or a household member has been diagnosed with novel coronavirus/COVID-19.
  • Children under the age of 16 please do not visit the Clinic.

 

You can help us care for you, your loved one and others by adhering to our visiting limitations.

  • Your temperature will be taken when visiting/entering the Clinic to assist with screening.
  • Please sign the visitor’s book on arrival and departure from The Toowoomba Clinic.
  • To further protect you, our staff, and visitors we have limited visitors to one visitor per person for one hour per day in an area designated by nursing staff.
  • We recognise that keeping patients and their loved ones in contact with one another is important and we encourage you to do this as much as possible through other means such phone, Zoom, FaceTime and Skype.
  • Please remember, avoiding unneeded visits to medical facilities allows healthcare systems to operate more effectively, therefore protecting you and others.

 

During your admission or when visiting The Toowoomba Clinic to prevent the spread of novel coronavirus/COVID-19 we ask that you:

  • Clean your hands often. Use soap and water, or an alcohol-based hand rub. Hand sanitisers are widely available throughout the Clinic.
  • Maintain a safe distance from anyone who is coughing or sneezing.
  • Don’t touch your eyes, nose or mouth.
  • Cover your nose and mouth with your bent elbow or a tissue when you cough or sneeze. If using a tissue place tissue directly into a bin immediately after use.
  • Follow the instructions of staff.
  • Practice physical distancing 1.5 metres.
